ABOUT THIS EPISODE

There is still a major financing gap for women in business. Our guest, Dr. Roshawnna Novellus, is the founder and CEO of EnrichHER, a network of successful women-led businesses created to accelerate business growth through funding and cultivate a thriving ecosystem for its members.

Roshawnna describes how sitting in on her mother’s investment club meetings not only made her appreciate the importance of financial literacy, but it stripped away the stigma that many women have when it comes to talking about financial matters or learning to negotiate. She speaks bluntly about the challenge that followed her throughout her engineering career: people accepting that she did indeed belong there. Well, we need her.

Roshawnna has taken her economics and systems engineering education and combined it with her entrepreneurial spirit and quest for equality to found EnrichHER. Bolstered by the fact that women-led businesses receive significantly less funding than male-run businesses, Roshawnna fights against the biases women face—and that she’s faced herself—on a regular basis. “[Women] aren't given the same benefit of the doubt for being good stewards of capital based on our experience. It slows women down.”

Enjoy this powerful episode with Dr. Roshawnna Novellus.
